the inaugural concert.
It all began in 2021 at Le Mancel in Caen, France, where Kristian Dambrino and Goldy Trio took the stage together for the first time—without a single rehearsal. The result was an immediate and flawless success, captivating the sold-out audience and sparking a deep musical connection.
Since that first performance, their collaboration has flourished, leading to yearly concerts across France, a six-hour jazz improvisation masterclass, and the recording of their first jazz EP in 2024. Their partnership reflects the long-standing connection between Caen and Nashville, which became sister cities in 1991 as part of an international initiative to foster cultural, artistic, and educational exchanges. This relationship celebrates the shared spirit of creativity and collaboration between the two cities.
the franco-americain masterclass.
In 2023, Kristian Dambrino designed a French American masterclass in vocal jazz improvisation, with an emphasis in vocalise, straw phonation and the repertoire of the Great American Songbook. Facilitated by a partnership with Goldy Trio and Swing Scénique, a cohort of the most talented jazz musicians from the Normandy region of France gathered to collaboratively engage in the first workshop of its kind in northwestern France.
Listen up.
In preparation for recording their first ever Franco-Americain jazz album, Goldy Trio and Kristian Dambrino recorded their first demo in France in September 2024. The ultimate project will feature classic French jazz tunes, as well as original jazz compositions from the group. Here, you can listen to live work tapes of the songs. In the age of artificial intelligence, where music is truly becoming at times, more artificial, the group values showcasing not only expertise in jazz, but also real-time improvisation and subtle imperfections.
